Everything in the room looks perfect...
...except that bright glare on the beautiful artwork on the wall. Don't let glare take away from a beautiful interior photo! There are a couple of ways to deal with bright glare on glass. Let's take a look at them a little closer.
Method #1 (and the easiest!)
The easiest way to remove glare from artwork is to hold up something to block the light source.
So if there's light coming through a window, producing glare, and the window is not in the frame... grab something large and flat to block out the window light hitting the artwork!
You'll most likely need to move around a bit to find the right spot, but sometimes it really is that easy 😉
For light-blocking, I often use my reflector. You can buy these pretty cheaply on Amazon or ay any photo store. If you don't have a reflector, though, use anything on hand! A blanket, a poster-board, or even a person standing in the right spot can block the light enough to remove glare.
Method #2
Take an additional photo in the exact same spot, but specifically for the artwork only.
Make sure this additional photo is:
-
dark enough to dim the brightest spots of glare
-
the flash is shot from an angle so the image is lit up well, but there's no bright spot from the flash on it
Here is a recent example of this:
Glare on artwork is not always a deal-breaker for an interior photo, but it can really distract from an otherwise gorgeous space. Thankfully, with some basic Photoshop techniques, you now know how to handle it perfectly!
