OUR MISSION
It is our mission to increase the representation of women in the architectural and interior photography industry.
There are actually many women who photograph spaces for designers, builders, brands, and agents. However, there remains a large gap between the amount of paid opportunities, leadership, and recognition that women receive when compared to our male counterparts in the industry. Sadly, these gaps are even larger when you look at statistics for women of color in this niche.
Everything that we do, create, and offer is done so with the intent to celebrate and elevate women to higher roles in the photography industry, ultimately increasing the visibility, representation, and recognition of those who identify as female in the architectural and interior photography space.
We are here to create lasting change that will impact the opportunities and businesses that future generations of female photographers will have. To this end, we support any female-identifying photographer in their efforts to create a strong, sustainable business.
OUR STORY
The Grove was conceived out of Natalia's journey to grow and build a business in the field of interior photography. During those early years of seeking out resources, Natalia found very few spoke about interior photography specifically, even though this niche of photography does indeed have many nuanced differences from similar specialities like real estate photography or architectural photography.
Moreover, Natalia began noticing that all of the resources that she did find for photography education seemed to be created or led by male photographers. As a Latina photographer, Natalia craved greater representation by fellow women or minorities.
After years of learning by trial-and-error and piecing together bits of information from different courses, she decided things needed to change.
In 2019, The Grove - originally called "The Grove Studio" - was born.
Since its inception, The Grove has become a multifaceted source of information and support. Today, The Grove is made up of hundreds of women around the world who make up a thriving community that is planting seeds of change in the world of architectural and interior photography. We are proud to see many of our members become leading photographers and educators in the industry, and are excited for the possibilities to come.
